England took the win by just 3 points at the Junior Home Internationals in Dolgellau, mid-Wales at the weekend 7-8 October. They went into the lead after the individual day on Saturday, and although Scotland put up a good fight, winning both Junior Men’s & Women’s Relays on Sunday, England won overall. Congratulations to the WCOC Juniors who were selected for the England Team and produced some brilliant results - Niamh and Joe H won their courses, with Alastair second and Caitlin third. For full results see MWOC.
Strong performances from the WCOC contingent helped the North West Junior Squad achieve an impressive 2nd place (behind Scotland) at the JIRCs this weekend. For full results (and more pictures) click here.
Many thanks to the organisers (SN and GO) and to all the NWJS coaches.
Fundraising: WCOC Juniors work hard to raise funds for their activities by holding regular cake stalls and organising special fundraising events. The support of WCOC members at these is much appreciated. The juniors also contribute to the club and promote the sport of orienteering by planning and helping at events and coaching, including working with local schools. Click here for some notes on applying for grants - written by Katrina Hemingway in 2013.
Congratulations to the three WCOC junior teams who travelled to the midlands for this year's Peter Palmer relays - and returned with the trophy again, along with a second place in the Joan George competition! Many thanks to COBOC for organising and planning, and of course all the coaches and parents at WCOC who make such great achievements possible.
