Juniors

Well done to all the WCOC members who braved the mud at today's Northern Champs near Whitby. There were many good performances, but congratulations for outstanding results go to W14 Champion Caitlin Irving, W16 Champion Niamh Hunter, M16 Champion Alastair Thomas and M21 Champion Matthew Vokes (who was also impressively 3rd in the World Ranking Event)!

Trying it for real, this is the final session of Orient8 for spring 2016. Tuesday 12th April 1830-1930hrs. Just turn up at the Park. £1.50.

Well done to all the WCOC members who crossed the Pennines to take part in this year's JK competition around Yorkshire. Some fantastic results included Golds for our junior relay teams on W48- (Caitlin, Rosie and Niamh) and M48- (Ben, Daniel and Alastair), Golds for Alastair (M16) and Jenny (W18L) and Bronzes for Niamh (W16) and Daniel (M16) overall individual, and Silver for Alastair (M16) at the sprint. Orient8
March sees the return of the very popular Orient8 sessions aimed at primary school children who are new and beginner orienteers.

Chase Winners 2016

Congratulations to Anne Burbidge - this year's WCOC Club Chase Overall Winner - who had a great run and held off stiff competition from an experienced and talented field! Congratulations also to the winners of each course - Hannah Birkinshaw (Yellow), Lily Regan (Orange), Louis Morris (Light Green), Sid Thomas (Green), Ben Breeze (Blue) and Andy Bradley (Brown).

BSOC 2015 Sandringham

Congratulations to all the WCOC members who made the long trip to Sandringham this weekend for the British Schools Championships.  They earned a FANTASTIC result, winning the Large Secondary Schools' trophy (beating rivals Ulverston Victoria by just one point).  As part of this success, there were lots of great year group and individual results - Gold for the Y13 girls' team of Katie, Jenn and Kate (winning their age group for an incredible 6th year running!); Gold for the Y9 girls' team of Rosie, Lily and Issy; and Silver for the Y11 boys' team of Alastair, Daniel and Joe; individual Golds for Alastair (Y11) and Rosie (Y9); Silver for Niamh (Y10) and Bronzes for Katie (Y13), Joe (Y10) and Daniel (Y11). It was great to see WCOC so well represented this weekend at the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, starting and finishing at Torver near Coniston.

Lots of impressive results included: Chris H and partner (2nd on Bowfell), Mike H and Ange J (2nd mixed pair on Kirkfell), Richard W and partner (2nd on Carrock Fell),  Lewis T and Alastair T (winners on Harter Fell!), David and Daniel S (2nd on Wansfell), Mike P and partner (1st vets on Wansfell), Ben and Steve B (5th on Bedafell), and Niamh and Simon H (5th mixed pair on Bedafell).

Well done to the following WCOC juniors who have been selected to represent the North-West in the Junior Inter-Regional Champs (Cannock Chase, Sept) - Rosie S, Jess B, Ben G, Niamh H, Daniel S, Alastair T and Katie L.

Also to the following who have been selected to represent England at the Junior Home Internationals (Northern Ireland, Oct) - Daniel S and Alastair T.
